Enrollment Closes December 31

Osiyo, 'ginali!

It's been about two weeks since the last newsletter, and a year since the last blog post. I've been busy! As mentioned before, I have a business, a ministry, and now a PhD program to juggle.

A few months ago I mentioned the likelihood I would close down Speak Cherokee or at least "take a sabbatical" from it for the better part of a year.

I sought council from friends and colleagues, including other language teachers, and have considered your suggestions as well. Here's the plan:

On January 1, I will stop taking new enrollments. However, while I had planned to shut it down completely, those students still enrolled will have access to continue.

Anyone who enrolls between now and December 31st will continue to have access, and I will continue to work with you.

In the meantime, I'll work to create a more thorough, completely video-based program. When it's ready, I'll roll that out, and those students still enrolled will have access automatically. If, however, there doesn't seem to be enough interest in learning and using Cherokee, I'll know it's time to move on.

For those who enroll, I've notice a recent trend that some people don't receive the email from me containing their access information. This is because email is becoming increasingly twitchy as layers of filers are added to defeat spam. So here's the new procedure:

[1] your USER ID will be the complete email address associated with your PayPal account.
[2] your PASSWORD will be the date of transaction, in this format - 04October2013
[3] please provide a working phone number.

This should present this problem from recurring.

Bo Taylor becomes Executive Director of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in November. Congratulations!

PERHAPS this means there will actually be a summer immersion program for non-members in summer 2014! The last one was in 2011.

Donadagohvi, Until we're together again,
Nvwadohiyada, Blessings of health and peace to you!

Brian Wilkes

PS: Autumn reading and Christmas gifts!
